Privacy Policy

Last updated: 21 October 2026

This policy explains how the FightZone Running iPhone app ("the App") and this website handle your information. The App and website are operated by Cameron Laing, a sole trader, of 7 Rectory Road, Beckenham, Kent, BR3 1HL, United Kingdom ("we", "us"). We are the data controller for any personal data described here. Contact: hello@fightzonerunning.com.

The short version

Information stored on your device

When you set up the App you may enter your age, fitness level, main sport, goal, preferred units and base pace. The App also records your workouts (sessions, durations, speeds, distances, fitness test results and your post-run feedback, such as Easy, Perfect or Hard). This information stays in the App's local storage on your iPhone. We cannot see it. Deleting the App deletes it. It is used only to tailor workouts and suggested paces on your device.

Apple Health (optional)

If you allow it, the App writes your completed workouts to Apple Health and reads your heart rate to show it during and after runs. You choose exactly what to share in the Health permissions screen and can change this at any time in iPhone Settings › Health › Data Access & Devices. Health data is processed on your device, is never used for advertising or marketing, is not sold, and is not shared with third parties.

WHOOP (optional)

If you choose to connect a WHOOP account, you log in on WHOOP's own page (OAuth); we never see your WHOOP password. With your permission we read your recovery, cycles (strain), workouts, basic profile and body measurements, and use them only to tailor your sessions, for example suggesting an easier or harder run based on your recovery. The access tokens WHOOP issues are stored securely (in the iPhone Keychain and, where a server is needed to keep our WHOOP app secret safe, on our secured backend) and are not shared with anyone else. You can disconnect WHOOP at any time in the App or in your WHOOP account settings, after which we stop reading data and delete the stored tokens.

Bluetooth heart rate (optional)

The App can connect over Bluetooth to a heart-rate strap or device that broadcasts heart rate (for example WHOOP with Broadcast Heart Rate turned on). Heart rate received this way is shown during your run and kept with your workout on your device. The App asks for Bluetooth permission before connecting, and you can turn it off in iPhone Settings.

Partner runs (optional, coming soon)

Partner runs let you do a session in sync with someone you invite. To use them you will need an account, and the live session runs through Supabase, our backend provider. During a partner run, only your chosen display name and your live run stats (such as speed, round and progress) are shared, and only with the partner you invited. We store your account email and display name so you can sign in; you can ask us to delete your account at any time.

Purchases

If the App offers paid features, payments are handled by Apple through the App Store. We never receive your card details.

Music and audio

The App plays alongside your own music app and lowers its volume while the coach speaks. It doesn't access your music library or listening history.

Website and waitlist

If you join our waitlist, your email address is stored securely on our own server (hosted by 123 Reg in the UK/EU) and used only to tell you about the App's launch and updates. You can unsubscribe at any time or ask us to delete it. This website does not use analytics or advertising cookies.

Diagnostics

The App doesn't include analytics. Apple may share anonymous crash reports with us if you've opted in in your iPhone settings.

Service providers

Where an optional feature needs one, we use: Apple (App Store, Health, TestFlight), WHOOP (if you connect it) and Supabase (accounts and partner runs). Some providers may process data outside the UK; where they do, they rely on appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or adequacy regulations.

Legal basis and retention

We process waitlist and account data with your consent or to provide the feature you asked for, and keep it until you ask us to delete it or the feature is closed. Data on your device stays until you delete it or the App.

Children

The App isn't intended for children under 16.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. Contact us at hello@fightzonerunning.com and we'll respond within one month. If you're unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Changes

We'll update this page if our practices change, and show the date of the latest version at the top.
